The BCS National Championship Live Online!
The LSU Tigers will face off for the second time this year against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS National Championship game taking place on January 9 at 8:30 p.m. (ET) at the Louisiana Superdome, now Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The two teams met earlier in the year at Alabama, a game the Crimson Tide certainly haven't forgotten. Alabama missed three field goals in the game and lost 9-6 in overtime, which could have very likely ended their national championship hopes. The Tide won out, a number of teams in front of them lost, and the rematch was theirs.
LSU had a couple of scares late in the season, falling behind to Arkansas and Georgia in back-to-back games before pounding them in the second half to pull away for easy victories.
These two teams are mirror images of each other, which is why the first contest went the way it did. Both teams have unbelievably stingy defenses, powerful running games and solid but inconsistent quarterback play. The quarterbacks are more game managers than playmakers, but both teams have more than enough talent surrounding their signal callers to get by.
The second matchup is likely to be a bit more high scoring, but not by much. It's really hard to beat a really good team twice in a season, but that's the challenge that LSU faces. It's also nearly impossible to go through an entire season undefeated in the SEC, but that's the task at hand.
The time is almost here—kickoff of the 2011 BCS National Championship game in Glendale, Arizona. Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton will lead his Auburn Tigers against the fast and furious Oregon Ducks.
Everyone knows what Cam Newton brings to the field, and the controversy that surrounds him off the field. Will the Ducks have enough defense to contain Newton, or will Mr. Heisman lead Auburn to the promised land and uphold the SEC's dominance in college football?
Both teams have explosive offense, but Oregon has been known to rattle off plays every 12 to 15 seconds. Will they wear out the Tiger's defense by the second half, or will Auburn simply run the ball down the smaller Oregon defense?
Cam Newton outweighs seven out of nine Oregon defensive ends, all of the Duck's secondary, and all but one linebacker on the Oregon roster.
Kickoff is scheduled at 8:30PM ET, so get your favorite beverage and snack, and follow along as we watch Auburn or Oregon win this year's national championship!
